Kellie Jordan
I was inspired to become a therapist after years of working for a non profit, providing residential case management for adults with severe and persistent mental illness and seeing the effects of unprocessed trauma and ongoing mental and emotional distress. During that time, I reflected upon my own experiences with therapy and how beneficial and life changing it was for me.
I will make my clients feel heard and understood by creating and maintaining a supportive environment that is free from judgement and full of compassion, empathy, and honesty. My clients will be reminded that they are the experts regarding their lives, and I am there to work alongside them in an effort to achieve their therapeutic goals.
I build trust by being authentic and being genuinely curious about the client that I am working with, including their interests, who they are as a person, and how I can best support them. I allow the client to determine the direction of the session while stepping in when needed, to encourage the discussion of topics or areas that may be difficult for the client talk about.
I have gotten into the habit of “romanticizing” my life. Where I take some of my everyday tasks, and add a little extra style or care. For example, I love waking up in the morning and putting on a cute outfit and going to get an iced caramel coffee, before starting my day.
