Peace, love and a few good laughs…in one way or another, most of us hope to maximize the presence and growth of these delicious things in our lives. After working in a university counseling center for ten years, I have a strong sense of many of the most common concerns students may face. That being said, we are all individuals with our own strengths and struggles. Every one of us experiences unique challenges that arise within the context of living our human lives. I am a queer-identified, neurodivergent, trans-affirmative, body positive, sex positive, emotion focused, experiential therapist, working with traditional college age students and adults of all ages. I am a generalist practitioner and have experience working with a wide range of concerns. Areas of specific clinical interest include working with those addressing issues related to gender diversity and sexual orientation. My clinical expertise includes providing treatment for depression, anxiety, autism spectrum disorder (Asperger's/Pathological Demand Avoidance) body image concerns, eating disorders and disordered eating. I find that my approach to therapy resonates well with college students in general and specifically with therapists in training, artists and creatives (of all sorts). Please contact me directly to schedule a brief (15 minute) consultation to discuss how we might work together to increase the peace and love you find in life and to share a few good laughs along the way.
I'm a little weird and sarcastic and work best with clients who are a little weird and sarcastic. I specialize in working with clients who have experienced some form of trauma - this may include religious trauma, sexual assault, harrassment, bullying, intimate partner violence, human trafficking, violent crimes, accidents, incarceration, and refugee status. I also have experience working with clients dealing with anxiety, depression, and OCD, and those dealing with life transitions, including transition to and out of college, changes in identity and changes in religion/loss of faith.
If you’re someone who lies awake at night replaying your entire day—going over conversations, decisions, and moments that felt harder than they “should” have—this might be for you. Many people who reach out to me say some version of, “I’ve always felt a little different. I can get things done, but it takes so much out of me. I overthink everything, I second-guess myself constantly, and I feel overwhelmed by seemingly small things” You might lose hours to indecision, get stuck in spirals of overthinking, or feel paralyzed. Often there’s a layer of self-criticism running underneath it all—wondering why it feels so much harder for you. You may relate to a lifetime of trying to keep up, mask, or push through. What once worked doesn’t anymore. Now it can look like burnout, emotional overwhelm, difficulty regulating your energy, or feeling like your nervous system is always “on.” On the outside, you may look high-functioning, capable, and like you’re managing well—but inside you’re worn out. Therapy isn’t about something being wrong. It’s about understanding how your mind works and finding support that actually fits. We can slow things down, make sense of what’s been overwhelming, and build more ease. I also offer nature-based therapy to help calm your nervous system and create space to think more clearly.

I work with students and young adults who are struggling with anxiety, perfectionism, and dealing with the undergoing changes of going to college or starting full time work. I offer therapy without judgment, I am here to help you challenge the critic in your mind telling you that you're doing everything wrong and that everyone is judging you all the time. I use a mix of cognitive and behavioral approaches to help you learn ways to change how you think about yourself and the world around you. I help by providing a nonjudgmental space and time for you to process through the thoughts that are troubling you and the worries you have. I am available to see clients in Illinois and Indiana.

Hello, can I help you reduce or eliminate substance abuse issues in your life? If you want to explore therapy for the mental health issue of substance dependence and abuse please let's schedule a free initial discussion.
I specialize in individual therapy with young adults. I use a solution-focused approach which means that we will be spending less time talking about the history of problems that may be present in your life, and more time building solutions for the present and future. I am warm, open, and friendly and I genuinely love working with people. I have a deep respect for each person's ability to bring about desired change. I will listen to your therapy goals, build a trusting relationship with you, and ultimately help you progress toward greater happiness and health. Nobody comes to therapy without having tried some other things first. So, you already know a bit about what works for you and what doesn’t. And you know what you want your life to be like. Once we can shift our focus from “problems” and “past” to “solutions” and “future," all things are possible. I invite YOU to be my teacher. Teach me about your life, your goals, what works and doesn’t work for you. Teach me about your struggles, your fears, your hopes, and your successes. I will listen and absorb what you what you tell me. I will seek to understand. I will make connections and ponder and apply that new information.

College can be exciting — and overwhelming. If you’re feeling stressed, anxious, or just not like yourself, you don’t have to figure it all out alone. I offer a warm, nonjudgmental space to talk through challenges like anxiety, life transitions, and relationship struggles. Virtual sessions make it easy to fit therapy into your busy schedule.
It's my belief to "Keep life simple." Life is stressful enough. Balancing work, family, social life, friends, and relationships can be overwhelming at times. I practice from a harm reduction holistic theoretical orientation. It combines person-centered (respect for autonomy) with CBT/systemic therapy (a critical look at culture and attachments). By identifying wants and needs, I can assist clients with locating triggers and establishing healthy coping skills to alleviate any mental, emotional, or physical stress. I work particularly with parents and clients dealing with ADHD, Life choices, anxiety, self-esteem and accountability. I assist clients in adjusting to unexpected life transitions by constructing healthier boundaries with themselves and others to balance their lifestyles. I value the importance of creating a supportive, transparent, and collaborative relationship throughout the therapy process. I do this by providing a safe space for clients to embrace their vulnerabilities. Difficult experiences often show up in the body. Accessing embodied experience helps clients evolve. These shifts in the body have a corresponding effect on our actions, routines, and relationships. Through mindful awareness, we discover how the body holds our experiences. We learn to recognize habitual patterns and create new ones. The healing starts now...
Welcome—I'm really glad you're here! College can be exciting, but it can also be a lot. Classes, relationships, family pressure, figuring out your future—it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or unsure of yourself. Maybe you're dealing with anxiety, stress, or anger that feels hard to manage. Maybe you're struggling with a relationship, exploring your identity, or just feeling stuck. You don’t have to go through it alone. I work well with students who are thoughtful, stressed, curious, or just trying to get a handle on things. You don’t need to know exactly what’s wrong. If you’ve been telling yourself, “I should be able to deal with this,” but nothing’s changing, therapy might be the space you need. Our sessions are a place for real talk. You bring whatever's on your mind, and I’ll listen without judgment. We’ll figure out what’s going on, talk it through, and I’ll offer practical tools to help you handle what life throws at you. We can cover anything from academic stress and relationship drama to anger, sex, identity questions, or big life decisions. Everything is online, so you can talk to me from your dorm, apartment, or anywhere you feel comfortable. If this sounds like what you need, or if you're just curious about how therapy could help, reach out. You don’t have to do college—and everything that comes with it—on your own. You can schedule directly at www.buckblack.com
Currently accepting new clients with Friday afternoon/evening and Saturday all day availability! In my therapy practice, I offer a compassionate and warm approach that doesn't feel like you are talking to someone who has it all together. As someone who has been there too, I offer you an authentic approach to learning skills that can help bring you peace and understanding towards yourself. Let me help you learn how to be kinder to yourself and move towards curiosity and understanding of your specific unique needs and how to communicate those needs in your relationships. Sometimes our lives can feel like we are on a roller coaster full of highs and lows. Often when we feel stuck in the chaos, we turn to things that relieve comfort temporarily but end up hurting us in the long run. If you are ready to understand why it is you do the things you do and how you can relieve your pain without hurting yourself, I can help. Living with mental health symptoms is a battle that not everyone understands. I encourage you to reach out if you are desiring someone who will walk alongside you as you discover who you are in a safe setting. I look forward to watching you transform into who you've always dreamed of becoming.
Help for Anxiety and Trauma: Do you struggle with overthinking, people-pleasing, restlessness, or feeling lonely? Do you run from one thing to the next? Do you put off lunch and bathroom breaks until your body is shouting for your attention? You work to fix things. You read self-development books, exercise, try to eat well, and stay hydrated. Part of you thinks you could do more -and do better. I can help. Together, we create a weekly therapy that both honors the strengths of hustle culture, and creates the experience of something different: being present in the moment, a sense of connection, etc. Whether problem-solving or overthinking, your mind is a powerhouse. In therapy, we use this strength while also building your literacy in your body and emotions. It's experiential. Consider: How do you know when a person is sitting too close to you? Attention to that body-level sense of knowing is what sets this approach apart from other talk therapy. Therapy can help you experience a felt sense of safety within yourself and in the external world -becoming a launching pad to whatever you choose. And yet the things bringing you to therapy are the same things that make it difficult to reach out to a therapist. Watch my introduction video (https://vimeo.com/1042175031) to get a vibe check, then book a consultation to find out whether we're a good fit.
