My work is based on Mindfulness, Buddhist Psychology, and Gestalt Therapy. All are adept approaches to increasing awareness of our embodied experience and discovering more authentic ways of living a fulfilling life. My approach works to help clients develop resiliency, emotional flexibility, and explore the careful balance between acceptance and change. I support clients’ process of deepening into a more compassionate and loving relationship with themselves and the world by accepting who they truly are. Simultaneously, I challenge people to examine and move beyond rigid, habitual beliefs or behaviors and develop more alive, creative, and connective ways of being in the world.

I work with: -Adult College Students - Adults navigating anxiety, grief, loss and impact of traumatic experiences -Caregivers providing support for parents, children or as part of professional roles -Professionals navigating chronic stress and high performance strain My Approach: I work side by side with clients with the hope to help them cultivate long lasting therapeutic outcomes and experience culturally responsive growth oriented healing journeys. To help explore sources of current imbalances, I see people holistically, within the contexts of their lives and as parts of larger structures and systems that constantly impact their health. A background as a Master Certified Health Coach and certified teacher of a somatic mindfulness based practice since 2010 informs my whole-person wellness approach to counseling and therapy. While completing my graduate degree in clinical mental health counseling, I received training and offered counseling at Portland State University in the Community Counseling Clinic and at the Student Health and Counseling Center (SHAC) where I held individual counseling sessions, offered group psychoeducation and co-facilitated group therapy for social anxiety and group counseling for international students navigating transitions and cultural complexities. Psychotherapeutic Approaches: Trauma informed, relational, humanistic-existential and psychodynamic. Depending on each person’s needs, tools from different modalities can be used including: EMDR, somatic interventions, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Brief Psychodynamic Therapy. Anne’s open and receptive warmth welcomes clients who are looking to make changes, improve wellbeing, and work through challenges. Her approach is eclectic and person-centered, tailored to each person specifically. As appropriate, she incorporates elements of Cognitive Behavior Therapy, art and narrative therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, mindfulness and imagery/meditation, mind-body connection, solutions-focused, and certainly, strengths-based. Throughout her vast clinical professional experience, she has worked with individuals experiencing depressive disorders, anxiety and panic, PTSD, postpartum mental health, self-esteem/identity conflicts, psychosis, mania, adjustment issues, parenting, substance use, relationship conflicts, and loss. It is Anne’s ultimate goal to create and provide a safe space for connection, to promote empowerment, comfort, trust, and engagement. Pacific Psychology & Comprehensive Health Clinic provides affordable and accessible outpatient assessment, psychotherapy, speech therapy, and psychiatric medication management services to children, adults, and families at our clinics in downtown Portland and Hillsboro. Services include counseling and therapy for depression, anxiety, child/family issues, PTSD, and a wide range of other concerns. We are proud to offer therapy services with Spanish-speaking therapists or with a Certified Spanish Medical Interpreter. I am an experienced clinician who specializes in working with diverse teens and young adults as they navigate the challenges of growing up in this nutty world. I specialize in working with kids experiences challenges in family relationships, anxiety, social anxiety and social interactions, trauma, and identity issues. I have received training in IFS, EMDR, ERP, anxiety issues, depression, trauma, Cultural Competence (have been actively involved in working with young people of color).
I am a licensed clinical psychologist with 15 years of experience treating adolescents and adults. My approach to psychotherapy is warm, empathic, and compassionate. I treat each individual professionally and with respect. Knowledge, concepts, and meaning are not developed on a solely individual basis, but rather are created through coordination and communication with others. Language is fundamentally important – it is the most essential way in which we construct reality. Our psychological experiences, including emotions, thoughts, somatic/bodily sensations, are subsequently developed within this context. I view problems in living, therefore, as relational, contextual, interpretive, and situated within the dominant discourse, expression, response, and cultural norms.

Eudaemonia Equine Connections, Inc. (EEC Inc.)'s Equine-Assisted Mental Health (EAMH) Treatment for Stability and Wellness Clinical Program is a behavioral health program offering outpatient psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and groups. Equine-Assisted Mental Health (EAMH) is a specialized psychotherapy treatment that incorporates equines into the therapeutic environment. It is a form of animal-assisted therapy (AAT) that integrates the human–animal bond and relationship with a horse as part of treatment and recovery in psychotherapy. EAMH treatment is an interactive process in which a licensed mental health professional working with or as an appropriately credentialed equine professional partners with suitable equine(s) to address psychotherapy goals set forth by the mental health professional and the client. EAMH is all about learning how to communicate, interact, and connect with horses directly and indirectly during psychotherapy work. Horses are beautiful and novel creatures that may help reduce stigma of psychotherapy, reduce barriers of those who do not do well or do not want to participate in office-based therapy. In turn, they may help to normalize the therapy process through in-person physical interaction and presence with horses. I primarily use Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Art Therapy. Despite my degree in art therapy, my dual license allows me to provide more traditional talk therapy, too. There are many ways we can integrate art therapy to fit you, no matter experience or skill. Including the creative process can give you a more experiential approach that feels safer and more accurate than relying only on words. Art therapy can be a more effective alternative for those who have tried traditional talk therapy and found it unsuccessful.
