Are you looking for a safe welcoming place where you can just be? Be heard, be valued and be accepted exactly where you are? I Invite you into my space to experience these thoughts and emotions. As a therapist, I incorporate different approaches which address a variety of mental health issues. I empower you to move forward in life in a way that is dynamic and nurturing. Clients in my practice are 18 and over and no one is ever judged. I especially like to work with university students and was the Counseling Services Director for a local university. I have an unwavering belief that you can experience change based on your needs and goals. We can walk through challenge and fear together to help you create a fulfilling life. One of my specialties is addressing trauma/PTSD with EMDR therapy which engages your physical, cognitive and emotional self to process trauma. Clients in the LGBTQ community find a place to explore gender and sexual identity. Folks in a variety of relationships come to talk about the complexity of connections and communication. One of my favorite quotes is: "I am a lighthouse, rather than a lifeboat. I do not rescue, but instead help others to find their way to shore". If you are searching for the way to the shore, I can help.

College can be an exciting time, but it can also bring pressure, uncertainty, and a lot of change. You may be feeling overwhelmed by academics, relationships, family expectations, or decisions about your future. Maybe you’re struggling with anxiety, self-doubt, low self-esteem, loneliness, or simply feeling like you’re trying to figure everything out while everyone else seems to have it together. Therapy can give you a place to slow down, feel understood, and sort through what you’re experiencing. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 20 years of experience in social work and counseling. I enjoy working with young adults as they navigate the transition to college and adulthood, develop their identity and independence, manage stress and anxiety, build healthy relationships, and learn to trust themselves. I have a particular passion for helping people who are hard on themselves or struggle with shame, self-doubt, or feeling that they are not enough. Together, we can identify your strengths, develop practical coping skills, and cultivate greater self-compassion and confidence. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and individualized. I won’t tell you who you should be or what choices you should make. Instead, I’ll help you better understand yourself, explore your options, and identify the path that feels right for you. You don’t have to have everything figured out before reaching out. Sometimes having someone who will listen without judgment and help you make sense of things can make all the difference. I would be honored to work with you as you navigate this next chapter.
I enjoy working with individuals who are interested in promoting well-being in themselves and in relation to others. Mindfulness instruction is available as a key component of my therapy should this focus be desired. Studies have shown that a regular practice of mindfulness supports an enriched experience of life, feelings of well being, better ability to cope with stress and pain, reduced panic, anxiety, and fear and better concentration. While my private practice setting is refreshing and tranquil with views of trees and birds, I currently only offer tele-health, accessible from the comfort of your own home or office. A mindfulness practitioner since 1986, I began developing the application of mindfulness for specialty disorders in 1997 for clients (anxiety, panic, Attention Deficit Disorders, concussion, Parkinson's, Multiple Sclerosis, and other cognitive and neurological disorders). This work has been highly successful and rewarding. I am a warm and caring professional who spends the time required with each client. I am a certified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction teacher and ordained by Teacher Thich Nhat Hanh. I offer neuropsychological assessment of learning and attention disorders for children and adults and day long mindfulness workshops and groups. Neuropsychological and Academic testing does accommodations is currently suspended until further notice due to COVID-19.

If it's taboo, I want to talk about it. I like to keep it real—laughter, tears, swear words. These are all useful tools in therapy, and in life. I believe that therapy is more than me asking, “How do you feel about that?” Therapy can inspire growth, change, and self-acceptance. It is a discussion. A process. An adventure (even if it’s a f*cking messy one). I can’t promise you that it won’t be a bumpy ride—the road of personal growth is often anything but smooth. But I can promise you this: I value the role I will play in your journey and I will be there for every (uneven, messy, unpleasant) step of the way. I am a LGBTQIA+ and relationship minority affirming therapist. My approach is fueled by 100% authenticity and a sincere passion for helping others arrive as their authentic selves. By arriving as MY authentic self, I can do my best work and best help you. And it is my hope that you will soon realize that your authentic self is actually "the best you", too. So, let's talk about it. The grimy. The "embarrassing". The difficult. Let's help you finally move from simply surviving day-to-day and feeling "stuck", to feeling like you are living a life of purpose and intention (yeah, that's a thing). I'd be so honored to be a part of your journey. (Just leave your swear jar at home.)
